Terms of use
DRAFT — NEEDS LEGAL REVIEW. This document has not been reviewed by a UK-qualified solicitor and must be before Nightquest accepts a single real user. Anything written as {{…}} is unresolved.
1. Who can use it
You must be 18 or over. One account per person, and it must use a phone number you control. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
2. What Nightquest is — and is not
Nightquest is a listings and coordination service. We are not the promoter, we do not run the events, and we do not sell tickets.
Event details are gathered from public sources and curated by hand. They can be wrong, and they change: times move, line-ups drop, door policies differ from what a listing says, and events get cancelled. Check with the venue or the promoter before you travel. We do not warrant times, prices, line-ups or entry policy.
3. Your account and username
Do not impersonate anyone. Do not register usernames in order to hold or sell them. We may reclaim a username that impersonates a person, a venue or a party, or that is being squatted.
4. How you must behave
The community guidelines are part of these terms and are incorporated into them by reference. Read them — they are short.
Screenshotting, reposting or forwarding who is going to something is a breach of these terms. Names on this service are shown to accepted friends under a promise of privacy, and passing them on breaks that promise for someone else. This is in the enforceable document, not only in the friendly one, because it is the way people on a product like this actually get outed.
Also prohibited: harassment, hate, threats, sexual harassment, scraping or bulk-collecting anything from the service, attempting to circumvent the access rules, and using the service to advertise.
5. Reporting, hiding and suspension
Reporting is open to every account, whether or not you are paying and whether or not a subscription has lapsed. Safety is not a paid feature.
Two independent reports about the same event or account hide it automatically and immediately, before anybody has looked at it. A person reviews every report within 24 hours and can restore what was hidden. Hiding is a suppression while we look, not a finding against anyone.
We may warn you, hide a listing, hide an account, or remove an account for breaking these terms or the guidelines. If you think we got it wrong, email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}} and a person will look again.
6. Tickets, and how we are paid
Ticket links take you to another company’s site. You buy from them, under their terms, and any refund or entry dispute is with them and with the promoter — not with us.
Nightquest may earn a commission when you buy a ticket through one of those links. The links carry a parameter identifying us as the referrer. This does not change what you pay, and it does not decide what gets listed or in what order.
7. Subscription
{{PAYMENT IS NOT OPEN. Prices are settled at £2 a month or £10 a year. There is no payment provider connected, no checkout, and nothing is charged to anyone today.}}
When payment does open, this section needs terms for renewal, cancellation, refunds and the 14-day statutory right to cancel a distance contract, plus how a free trial works and whether it needs a card. {{ALL PENDING — do not publish this page with payment live and this section unwritten.}}
8. Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store and display it inside the service so that the service can work — for example, showing your username to a friend. That permission ends when you delete your account.
9. Our content
The name, the design and the software are ours or our licensors’. Flyer artwork and event descriptions belong to the promoters and venues who made them, and are shown here for the purpose of listing their events.
10. Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for what happens at an event, for what another user does, or for a listing being inaccurate. {{LEGAL REVIEW: the cap and the carve-outs need drafting properly.}}
11. Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from the “You” screen. It is immediate and permanent. We may end your access if you break these terms.
12. Changes
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the protection of your local consumer law.
